Chelsea are reportedly prioritising a move for goalkeeper Jan Oblak this summer in a player-plus-cash deal.
According to the Mirror, the Blues are looking to offload Kepa Arrizabalaga in a switch for Atletico Madrid’s shot-stopper. Oblak is now Chelsea’s main priority ahead of the summer window as they look to overhaul their current options between the sticks.

Frank Lampard is seemingly unhappy with his current goalkeeper roster and is looking for an upgrade if his side are going to challenge for silverware next season. Kepa has struggled this campaign, keeping just seven clean sheets and making 53 saves (via Premier League), which is a worrying return for a player who has started all but four league games this season.
The Spaniard has also leaked 49 goals, which is more than the likes of Burnley and Crystal Palace.
With the new signings of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, it’s clear Chelsea aren’t afraid to splash the cash and recruit where needed. Now, they are looking to fix their inconsistent defence by targeting one of the world’s best.
Atletico Madrid added a £120million buy-out in Oblak’s most recent contract, which ties him to the club until 2023. However, Lampard is hoping to strike a deal by offering Kepa plus a cash amount in exchange for the Slovenian. The 27-year-old has kept 16 clean sheets this season and conceded 26 goals, by far a much better return than Kepa’s current tally (via Transfermarkt).
According to WhoScored, Oblak also averages more accurate long balls per game (6.7) than the Spaniard (3.8) which could suit Lampard’s quick build-up playing style.
With Kai Havertz another major target the Blues are closing in on, they’re clearly not pausing for breath as they continue to line up world class talent to bolster their squad.
