Inter Milan and Antonio Conte have made N’Golo Kante their top-priority transfer target in this window.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), the former Blues boss is absolutely certain that he wants to make the Frenchman an Inter player.
Should Chelsea keep or sell N'Golo Kante?
Both Conte and those above him in the club’s hierarchy reportedly share the same vision regarding the Chelsea midfielder. Kante has been regarded as a talisman who could boost Inter Milan’s squad, much like the addition of Romelu Lukaku last year.
Indeed, the France international has scooped three major honours with Chelsea, including the Europa League and FA Cup. Kante also lifted the 2018 World Cup with his country after a thrilling 4-2 final against Croatia.
Frank Lampard no longer regards the 29-year-old as a key component and is therefore happy to let him leave. However, Chelsea are demanding a minimum of €50m (£44.5m) before they sell, which is more than a fair price for the two-time Premier League champion.
Kante currently has a Transfermarkt value of £72m, which will see Inter pay 38% less than his estimated market price.
After finally announcing the arrival of long-awaited signing Kai Havertz, the Blues are looking for one last recruit to round off their lavish transfer window. Lampard still has his sights set on a new goalkeeper and the money made from Kante could heavily fund a potential deal.
