Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have had plenty of reasons to be concerned so far this season but there is some potential good news emerging about the West London outfit.
The Mirror state the Blues are eying a swoop for Napoli forward Gonzalo Higuain next summer, in a move that would raise question-marks over the future of controversial striker Diego Costa.
Chelsea believe a big-money bid could persuade Napoli to part ways with the former Real Madrid forward, as the Premier League side desperately look to shake-up their unimpressive strike force.
Costa, who starred in his inaugural Premier League season, is enduring goal-shy form currently and is under a wealth of criticism due to his ‘bad boy’ approach to the game; with a stand-out moment being earning Arsenal’s Gabriel a red-card in the fiery clash at Stamford Bridge.
Despite the lack of form, Costa has no real threat to his first-team spot with Radamel Falcao failing to find his feet in England and Loic Remy continuing to impress in West London.
Chelsea’s problem in the quest for Higuain could be the lack of Champions League football on offer, with it highly unlikely that the Blues can achieve a top-four finish as they sit 13 points behind Manchester United already.
