Chelsea fans are the centre of attention here in the Football Transfer Tavern as Metro seem to think that the Blues have pulled out of the race to sign Paul Pogba.
Jose Mourinho was speaking at his Friday press conference and noted that while Juventus star Pogba was a good player, he did not have to consider him when turning his attentions to plans this summer due to his already top squad – and a rising Blues star.
The player in question is Ruben Loftus-Cheek who is part of the crop of excellent Chelsea kids who are expected to go far – and he is the one most people are tipping to be the best of the bunch and after seeing him perform for their kids, we are not surprised.
Mourinho firstly claimed that he did not need Pogba and then added that his midfield option were great, singling the young player out for special praise saying: ‘And I believe a lot in Ruben and I repeat next season the squad will be made in a way where Ruben is not a number, where he is a player to compete for a position.
‘Ruben is a player that next season I expect him, not just to play a few times, but I expect him to compete for a place in the team.’
United are also pursuing the highly-rated midfielder, and Louis van Gaal will undoubtedly be happy after hearing Mourinho say what he has!
