Joao Felix wants Chelsea stay this summer

Chelsea attacker Joao Felix would prefer to join the Blues permanently this summer rather than return to parent club Atletico Madrid, according to reports from Spain.

The Lowdown: Felix promising for Chelsea

The 23-year-old moved to Stamford Bridge on loan during the January transfer window, having fallen out of favour under Diego Simeone at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Felix may have been red-carded on his Chelsea defeat away to Fulham last month but he has looked like a vibrant addition to their attack, scoring once so far.

It could be that the Blues look to sign him on a permanent basis once the summer arrives, and it appears as though that could be the ideal scenario for all parties.

The Latest: Felix wants to stay at Chelsea

According to one Spanish media outlet [via Caught Offside], Felix prefers the idea of staying put at Chelsea instead of making a return to Atletico this summer.

He is thought to be currently happy at Stamford Bridge and sees his future away from the La Liga giants, stating: “The position I play in and the way we play at Chelsea is different to how we play at Atlético, I have more freedom to practice my football, to be at my best level. I feel good here.”

Frankly, Chelsea would be mad not to do all that they can to keep Felix at the club for years to come, considering that he has been described as a ‘special talent’ by former Atletico and Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata.

The 28-cap Portugal international has already done enough in his brief time in west London to show that he is worth persevering with, possessing quick feet, unpredictability and long-term potential.

Felix won the prestigious European Golden Boy award in 2019, with other recent recipients including Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland, and he should become a genuine superstar at Stamford Bridge if he reaches his full potential and best form.

The reports that Atletico seemingly don’t view him as a key player moving forward should further work in Chelsea’s favour, as should his apparent desire to turn the loan move into a permanent one, and a summer transfer would be great news for the Blues.
