Our Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern are expecting a big summer in terms of change and some feel it’s much needed, despite winning the Premier League title only last season and potentially bringing the FA Cup home to Stamford Bridge this season.

Antonio Conte’s future continues to grab all the headlines with the Blues not exactly firing on all cylinders this season and more so since the turn of 2018. Conte looks like he’s feeling the wrath of the ‘winning the Premier League’ curse that has plagued many managers in the past few years and the Blues in our bar feel an exit is a certainty.

However, should Conte stay on and as it looks like at the moment, Chelsea don’t qualify for the Champions League, surely the board will have bigger problems on their hands than just a manager? Many of the Chelsea stars will not accept the second season in three years outside of Europes biggest cup competition, and this could mean bigger changes than the one anticipated by many.

Indeed, if the Blues finish in fifth, it could spell the end for these two stars within the Chelsea squad With that in mind, our landlord takes a look at TWO players he feels will leave the club should they miss out…

Thibaut Courtois

The Blues’ number one goalkeeper has been making headlines over his interview a few months back in which he claimed that his heart is still in Madrid, alongside his family who lives there.

With Real Madrid seemingly always on the lookout for a new goalkeeper every summer, this seems like a likely match-up. Courtois may see the summer as a time to move his career to Spain with his family and play regular Champions League football in light of Chelsea’s recent seasons.

Eden Hazard

In a cruel double swoop, Madrid could grab fellow club and country teammate, Hazard and bring him to the Bernabeu. Los Blancos must be looking at a long-term replacement for Ronaldo and to revitalise the team with a few new Galacticos to bridge the gap to Barcelona next season.

The Belgian pairing would be a great double swoop, and with Hazard’s career seemingly stalling at Chelsea, a move to Madrid may be the move he craves and certainly feels he’s earned over the years at Stamford Bridge.
