Chelsea star pens deal to remain at Stamford Bridge until 2020

hazardBBC Sport have placed massive smiles on the faces of Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern after breaking the news that Eden Hazard has penned a new deal with the Blues.

Jose Mourinho had claimed that the only reason the deal was being held up was due to the lack of a top quality pen.

Humour aside, it seems that the Special One has now found a pen or as we hope – a permanent marker – and Hazard will now be tied down to the West London club for another five-and-a-half years.

As one of our punters notes over a pint, Hazard is still so young and developing all the time. Given he has now caused 28 Premier League players to receive yellow cards for fouling him, he is quite rightly amongst the front runners to receive the PFA Player of the Year gong.

It is at this point that our resident Arsenal fans pipe up and claim it is indeed their star man Alexis Sanchez who deserves this title come the end of 2014/15.

On the subject of the new deal, Belgian international Hazard claimed: “The manager has helped me improve a lot, the fans have been fantastic and I have an amazing understanding with my team-mates.”

We think that is another reason for the West London club to celebrate what could become one of the best seasons in their history with the Premier League title and a League Cup triumph in sight, not to mention a tie against Hazard’s former suitors Paris Saint-Germain on the horizon.

Chelsea fans. Is this the best news you could have been handed ahead of a massive clash with PSG? Let us know your thoughts below.
