The Chelsea supporting punters here inside the Football Transfer Tavern are well and truly loving life at the moment, with Conte’s side having had a sensational season.
The Blues sit at the summit of the Premier League table and look odds on to win the title come May, and are well in with a shout of winning the Emirates FA Cup too.
The latest line that has filtered into the Tavern comes from the Telegraph, with the outlet claiming that Chelsea are considering a mega £100m double swoop for Everton stars Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley.
Now, this news has certainly caused a stir here in the Tavern, with Blues fans all over the pub salivating at the thought of seeing the Toffees duo at Stamford Bridge next season.
As our landlord quips, Chelsea will be in need of some reinforcements this summer in order to push for silverware again next season, and luring two of the Premier League’s most talented players to west London would be an amazing bit of business.
Of course, £100 million is a hell of a lot to pay for two footballers, but as one of the Chelsea fans by the pool table says, Man Utd spent £89 million on Paul Pogba alone, so this deal in some respects, could be seen as a bargain.
Meanwhile, on the pitch, Conte’s outfit face a tricky encounter with Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday, in a game that many of the Blues fans here in the Tavern think will be yet another victory.
