Chris Sutton: Lack of a consistent centre forward has been a huge problem all season for Celtic

Celtic remain in a promising position in the race for the Scottish Premiership title after picking up a 1-0 win yesterday against Dundee, as Odsonne Edouard scored in the dying embers.

It’s safe to say that things haven’t always been perfect for Celtic in the current campaign as they’ve struggled to grind out results at times, which can be put down to a lack of quality at the pinnacle of the attack.

Indeed, the likes of Odsonne Edouard and Timothy Weah haven’t really been able to ensure a consistent flow of goals, while Michael Johnston and Oliver Burke have struggled to lead the line by themselves at times. And, Leigh Griffiths break from football certainly didn’t help, as they’ve been short on numbers ever since.

Interestingly, it appears as if Chris Sutton shares the same opinion as he highlighted what he believes is Celtic’s huge problem, via his personal Twitter account recently.

Celtic fans will agree with Sutton’s statement as they saw their side squander a number of chances against Dundee, and that isn’t the first time that the Hoops have lacked quality in front of goal as it has been an issue throughout the current campaign. It’s safe to say that fans would love to see a new striker rock up at Parkhead in the summer months as they can’t reach the next level without a natural goalscorer leading the line.

Indeed, it’s clear to see that Celtic are still yet to move on from selling Moussa Dembele to French side Lyon back in the summer transfer window as they just haven’t looked as deadly ever since.

Celtic fans, surely a striker has to be the priority in the summer? Join the discussion by commenting down below…
