Manchester City are believed to be seeking £7 million in compensation from Chelsea over the transfer of Daniel Sturridge. The clubs are set to meet on January 14th this month for a tribunal to discuss the transfer of the youngster, with the clubs failing to agree a fee back in the summer.
Sturridge, who moved to Stamford Bridge this summer having fallen out with the powers that be at Manchester City, has come to prominence recently after a fairly quiet start to his career at Stamford Bridge. He has been involved in each of Chelsea’s last three games and gave an impressive performance in yesterday’s FA Cup tie with Watford resulting in a brace for the youngster.
Sturridge is set to play a key role for Chelsea over the coming weeks given the absence of star strikers Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou as well as the injury of Nicolas Anelka and Manchester City are believed to be using this as the forefront of their argument at the tribunal as they hope to maximise the fee they receive. The youngster is believed to have a bright future at Stamford Bridge and the next few weeks are likely to go a long way in shaping his reputation.
