The Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern are increasingly nervous about a return to Champions League action this week with Brendan Rodgers’ men battling Anderlecht for a place in the Europa League after Christmas.
Though the way in which they fell out of the Champions League was annoying, our punters clad in green and white believe entry into the Europa after the festive period would go some way into softening that blow. So, as you can imagine, the Bhoys in our bar are talking up their chances.
Other than the thumping against PSG, life is pretty good for our resident Hoops right now. Indeed, it seems such feelings of goodwill aren’t only isolated to the fan base. With quotes sourced by the Scottish Sun, Celtic youngster Odsonne Edouard has revealed he’d like to STAY at Parkhead beyond the course of this current deal.
The French forward joined the Scottish champions on loan during the summer and has largely had to bide his time behind the likes of Leigh Griffiths and Moussa Dembele, though bagged a stunning hat-trick against Motherwell over the course of the weekend.
Now, the 19-year-old has revealed he’d be keen on make his loan move from PSG a permanent one, much to the delight of our local Celtic fans.
“To impress the coach in one match is not enough. I know I have to work every single day”, he said.
“I am very happy at Celtic. I have very welcoming team-mates and manager while the fans have been very good with me.
“I feel great — so I hope I can build on this feeling and stay as long as I can.”
Landlord’s Verdict:
Why not? He certainly looks a wonderful prospect and no one would expect Moussa Dembele to stick around for the long-term, so perhaps Edouard could be a solid in-house replacement.
