The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to a story in Gol Digital (Via The Chronicle) that Newcastle handy Spanish forward, Ayoze Perez is set to leave Newcastle and join Real Betis in the summer. Perez has hit a purple patch over the last few weeks scoring in each of the club’s last three fixtures, with two of them coming as match-winning goals.

The Magpies propping our bar up have dismissed the story already as they have no intention of seeing their Spanish second-striker leave the club any time soon. At the age of just 24, Perez is approaching his peak years as a player and now he’s started to add more end product to his game, having scored three and assisted one more in last three games, it would be a bizarre move from the club to sell the influential forward.
Rafa Benitez has done a superb job with Newcastle this season and currently has them sitting pretty in 10th, just one point behind Everton and with a game in-hand over the Toffees. The club’s push for a top-half finish has been inspired by their recent form. The win over Arsenal on Sunday extended their winning run to four consecutive matches and they travel to Goodison Park on Monday to face an out-of-sorts Everton.

And. Done ok in this revival. Far too lightweight to be the main striker. Good grafter. But we need better for this league
