Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are getting a few pints of TT Ale in early today, and not just because it’s Friday. They have reason to celebrate, news from Anfield has reached the punters in the Tavern that the club have announced a massive deal.
Our Liverpool supporting barman has been running around showing everyone the news which he has spotted on the club’s official Twitter account this morning. The Reds boss, Jurgen Klopp, has signed a new long term contract, to keep him at Anfield until 2022, the club have confirmed:

The extension comes just nine months after the former Borussia Dortmund boss joined the Reds, replacing Brendan Rodgers, in October last year.
Principal owner John Henry, chairman Tom Werner and FSG president Mike Gordon, in a joint statement, told the club’s official website: “When you have an individual of Jürgen’s quality in the building it makes perfect sense to secure that person for the long term. To not do so would be irresponsible.
“The overriding motivation behind this decision is Jürgen’s commitment to overall improvement and development. In Jürgen we have someone who is always looking ahead, always looking beyond his own wants and needs and putting the club first.”
The enigmatic manager led Liverpool to a Europa League and League Cup final in his first season, finishing runners up in both competitions. His senior technical staff, Zeljko Buvac and Peter Krawietz, have also signed contract extensions.
