Chelsea supporters in the Transfer Tavern are keenly anticipating a flurry of incomings at Stamford Bridge this summer.

The club recently announced the largest commercial deal in their history, and our resident Blues fans are expecting many more to arrive at the Bridge following the signing of Willy Caballero.

Antonio Conte’s been busy identifying targets with the likes of Bakayoko, Rudiger, Lukaku and Alex Sandro all linked with a move to West London.

However, there have been several rumours brewing about possible departures from Chelsea this window.

Our landlord has decided to look at TWO Chelsea players who Conte should be fearful of departing Stamford Bridge this summer….

Diego Costa

The Spaniard has been widely linked with a return to former club Atletico Madrid, and while it is believed that Conte is willing for Costa to leave, it’s hard to ignore the masterful contribution that the striker has made during his Chelsea career.

Throughout the history of the Premier League, it’s difficult to find a character that polarises opinions as much as Diego Costa.

Adored by Chelsea supporters, hated by rival fans – the 28-year-old has certainly made a memorable impression during his three seasons with the Blues.

He’s played a pivotal role in two of Chelsea’s successful Premier League campaigns, and he also scored in the final of Chelsea’s 2-0 victory against Spurs in the EFL Cup as well as scoring in Chelsea’s 2-1 FA Cup final loss to Arsenal.

Costa flaunts a ratio of almost a goal every two games for the Blues (59 goals in 120 games) – his departure would certainly be a loss to Chelsea’s attack, in particular to Fabregas who has forged such a productive partnership with the attacker.

Nemanja Matic

Another Chelsea player who is primed to depart the club is midfielder Nemanja Matic.

Since re-joining the Blues in January 2014, the Serbian midfielder has provided steel and height to the Blues’ midfield.

During this time he forged great partnerships with midfielders such as Cesc Fabregas in the 2014/15 season and more recently N’Golo Kante.

He has amassed 151 appearances during his second stint with the club scoring a total of seven goals.

With his ability to disrupt the opponent’s rhythm and retrieve possession of the ball, the Serbian midfielder has established himself as one of the most capable midfielders in the Premier League.

However, the imminent arrival of Bakayoko from Monaco has led to increasing rumours that Matic is set to be reunited with Mourinho in Manchester.

Matic’s role in Chelsea’s recent domestic success has been unquestionable; his presence has been oh-so-important for the Blues.
