Chelsea supporters in the Transfer Tavern are slightly concerned that the club have yet to complete a major signing.
Willy Caballero aside, the Blues have yet to finalise a transfer for a major player. Numerous players have been linked with moves to the champions this summer, and while many deals are reportedly nearing their completion, Antonio Conte’s side have yet to conclude deals for outfield players.
Last season – when Chelsea were crowned champions of England for a sixth time – Conte made the fewest changes to his line-up compared to any other Premier League manager. Due to Champions League participation, the Italian manager won’t be able to repeat that feat this season.
To ensure that his Chelsea side remain as competitive as possible in all four competitions he must seek new signings to enhance the quality of his squad.

Alex Sandro
The Brazilian has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for much of the summer window, and his signature would notably strengthen Chelsea’s chances of retaining their Premier League crown.
Marcos Alonso did superbly well in his first season at the club, yet Sandro possesses qualities of a greater degree. Sandro is one of the most accomplished full-backs in world football, his defensive and attacking work are brilliant in equal proportions.
While Juventus’ reluctance to sell is apparent, his arrival would potentially be one of the signings of the summer. The 26-year-old was an instrumental figure in Juve’s league successes over the course of these past two seasons and his presence would refine Chelsea’s already reputable defence.
Leonardo Bonucci
Antonio Conte may have to convince the club’s hierarchy to alter club rules in order to acquire the services of Bonucci. The Blues only offer 1-year contracts to players above the age of 30, yet in this instance it is evident why Conte would wish to secure ownership of Leonardo Bonucci for a longer period. The Italian’s desire for defensive reinforcements is well-documented, and arguably there isn’t a superior centre-half in world football than Bonucci.
The relationship that he shares with Andrea Barzgali and Giorgio Chiellini is almost telepathic. His status as one of Europe’s most prominent defenders is unequivocal, and his knowledge, expertise and leadership could guide Chelsea to their third Premier League title in the space of three seasons. As club legend John Terry departs the club, Bonucci could be the supreme acquisition. His presence would also mould Chelsea into a genuine European force.
