The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are intrigued by rumours linking their club with a move for Chelsea’s David Luiz in January.
Chelsea’s David Luiz has divided opinion over the years with his kamikaze approach to defending that has certainly counted against him on plenty of occasions. He has often been labelled a liability due to his lapses in concentration and questionable defensive positioning, but there is no doubt that for all of his flaws he is a fantastic footballer with plenty to offer at the highest reaches of the game.
The Brazilian centre-back is currently just over 1 year into his second-stint at Stamford Bridge as a Chelsea player, but according to reports in The Sun, his time at the club could be coming to a conclusion in January when Arsenal are expected to bid £25 million for his services.
Even from an outsiders perspective, it appears fairly obvious that the relationship between Antonio Conte and Luiz has broken down ever since the Chelsea manager decided to withdraw Luiz in their 3-3 draw with Roma back in October.
Luiz was left either out of the squad or on the bench in the fixtures that followed the aforementioned Champions League tie with Roma, but he has since suffered a knee injury that is expected to rule him out until the new year.
Considering Luiz’s relationship with Conte has been severely fractured by recent events, it is completely plausible that he may have played his last match for the club.
Unsurprisingly, the reports linking Luiz to Arsenal have been met with a very mixed response from The Gunners contingent on Twitter who are along way from reaching a consensus on the potential transfer.
Here’s what the Arsenal supporters had to say about a potential move for Luiz…
If ever there was an Arsenal defender out there it’s David Luiz

Luiz and big Scotty Mustafi dribbling the ball towards the half way line getting dispossessed then falling over while trying to recover while we concede is it? lovely stuff already looking forward to it.

Embrace the lunacy. It's the only way…

He was largely excellent since he came back from PSG to be fair. Remember watching the game at theirs this season and just nothing got past him.

A lot of people are laughing at the David Luiz to Arsenal rumour, which is probably completely false. But it would actually be a typical Wenger signing (Silvestre, Gallas prime examples): PL experience, not wanted anymore by his club, could be a leader in our defense.

Better than the ones we have. He's a leader and especially a very good in taking free kicks

Not what we need.
