Coventry: Julien Dacosta arrives as second summer signing

Share

Coventry City have completed their second summer signing as Julien Dacosta has been announced via their official website.

Sky Blues boss Mark Robins is already starting to bolster his squad options ahead of a Championship return next season.

After gaining promotion via the automatic route from League One, Robins has already completed a move for young defensive midfielder Gustavo Hamer, and it has now been confirmed by the club that French defender Dacosta has also completed a deal.

Born in Marseille, Dacosta joined his hometown club as a youth player, developing through the club’s academy before moving to Chamois Niort in 2017.

Establishing himself at the lower French league side, the £428,000-valued full-back would go on to make 80 appearances in all competitions.

Touching on his arrival to the club, Robins said: “We’re very pleased to welcome Julien to the Club.

“He’s a pacy and powerful defender, who also brings attacking attributes to the side. Predominantly a right-back, Julien is versatile and can also play left-back too.

“Julien is a player we’ve been monitoring for some time now and has been linked with other sides as well, so we’re pleased to secure his signature and we’re looking forward to working with him.”

Dacosta, who arrives on a free transfer has put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal at Coventry.

You have to admire how quickly and efficiently Mark Robins is doing things this summer at Coventry. It is obvious to see that he has his targets and that he already has plans on how he wants his squad for next season, highlighted by the fact he already has two new faces through the door.

Whilst Hamer and Dacosta are unfamiliar names on these shores, Robins will have taken time to watch both in detail and will now hope that they can make an impact in the Championship.
