Coventry City boss Mark Robins has ended his pursuit of recently released Paris FC defender Samuel Yohou, according to a report by Coventry Live.
Promotion to the Championship for the Sky Blues this season has handed Robins the chance to add some extra quality to his squad and deals to bring in the likes of Gustavo Hamer and Julien Dacosta have already been completed.
Looking into a number of targets, Robins has also been linked with a move for Yohou, who has recently left French side Paris FC due to the expiration of his current contract.
Despite the reported interest from Coventry, it has now emerged that Robins has ended his desire to bring in the defender.
The 28-year-old centre-back has largely been an unknown quantity in French football, playing for lower league sides SAS Epinal, AS Beziers and his most recent club Paris FC.
Making 21 appearances for the Ligue 2 side this term, Yohou is currently valued just under £500,000 by Transfermarkt (£428k).
Robins has certainly been doing his homework ahead of the summer window and the additions of Hamer and Dacosta look to be interesting and shrewd ones.
The Coventry boss will be keen, of course, to keep his side in the Championship and build on a future in England’s second tier, and whilst some fans may feel that Yohou would have been another interesting name to arrive, Robins’ decisions much be trusted.
With four centre-backs already in the squad, it may be a wise choice to pass on signing the Frenchman.
