Coventry: Potential fifth summer signing reported

Coventry City have been linked with a move for AS Monaco defender Jonathan Panzo, according to Coventry LIVE.

Sky Blues boss Mark Robins has been busy since the end of the 2019/2020 League One season, preparing his side for a stint in the Championship after gaining promotion via the automatic route.

Transfer business began with the arrival of Gustavo Hamer from PEC Zwolle, bolstering his midfield options with the young yet experienced Brazilian born footballer.

Hamer’s arrival was soon followed by that of Julien Dacosta, who moved from Chamois Niortais on a free transfer and a third summer transfer came when Callum O’Hare agreed a permanent move to the club after spending last term on loan from Aston Villa.

Marcel Hilssner was then announced on Thursday as a Coventry player, moving to the club from German side Paderborn.

Now, a fifth potential arrival is being reported with £2.4 million valued Panzo linked over the last few days.

The right-back could potentially leave Ligue 1 side Monaco this summer and has emerged as a possible transfer target for the Sky Blues.

Panzo, 19, spent last season on loan with Belgian side Cercle Brugge, having progressed well through the youth ranks at Chelsea during his early career.

What a time to be a Coventry City fan.

Not only have the club been promoted as champions, but Mark Robins is doing all he can to bring in players capable of making them a good Championship side and interest in Panzo is expected to further enhance fan excitement.

Indeed he is highly rated in England and was part of the Three Lions’ under 17 team which won the World Cup back in 2017. His value is quite high but if Coventry can come to an acceptable agreement with Monaco, on paper this looks a potentially good signing.
