The Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to a story from Sky Sports Scotland that claims their club is nearing closer to signing Burnley’s Canadian international, Scott Arfield from Burnley on a pre-contract agreement. The 29-year-old is currently sidelined with a calf strain but had scored two goals in his 18 Premier League games for The Clarets this season.

Arfield is a classy operator in a Burnley team that has been punching above their weight for the majority of the campaign. Sean Dyche’s side sit seventh in the Premier League table and have come the closest to cracking the Premier League’s formidable top six, despite scoring just 35 goals in 35 games, less than 14th and 15th placed Crystal Palace and West Ham.
What the Canadian would bring to Ibrox is a level of maturity on the football pitch. Rangers have a number of youngsters who are yet to fulfil their potentials. The likes of Ross McCrorie and Jordan Rossiter would benefit from having the guidance of an experienced Premier League pro like Arfield around them on the training pitch. The fans will also be looking for experienced professionals like Arfield as they look to claw back the sizeable gap between themselves and Celtic next season.
