Lots of Crystal Palace fans have responded to the news that they have had a bid rejected by CSKA Moscow for striker Fedor Chalov, with journalist Alan Nixon reporting on the club’s interest.
Alan Nixon tweeted earlier today that a bid of ‘record levels’ had been rejected by CSKA Moscow. Whether that means a record fee offered by Palace (Christian Benteke, £28.08m) or a record fee received by CSKA (Aleksandr Golovin, £27m, both per Transfermarkt) is unclear, but either way, it’s a big offer snubbed – if the claims are true.
Crystal Palace. Massive bid for Chalov turned down. Record levels. Surely can’t lose Zaha in the circumstances …

Chalov, who has been linked to Arsenal and Monaco in the past (Championat, via Sport Witness), won the Russian Premier League Golden Boot last season, bagging 15 times in the league, and scoring 17 goals in 37 games overall.
Palace have been linked with strikers all summer after Michy Batshuayi left the club after his loan last season, finishing as the top scorer out of all of Palace’s strikers. Not including Batshuayi – who scored five league goals – the rest of Palace’s strikers – Christian Benteke, Jordan Ayew, Connor Wickham and Alexander Sorloth – could only manage two goals between them.
Bearing the previous in mind, there is no surprise that Palace are after a striker, especially considering that Benteke has missed 29 games over the past two seasons, per Transfermarkt.
Many Palace fans responded, though with pretty varied replies. A few lambasted the club, with one saying “this is why you don’t leave it late”, while others urged Palace to get keep going and “throw more money” at him.

Can’t see this being done in time. The guys in Russia, so much would need to be sorted.
