Crystal Palace: Dougie Freedman watches Antoine Semenyo -Crystal Palace News

Crystal Palace chief Dougie Freedman watched Bristol City forward Antoine Semenyo in action on Saturday, according to Alan Nixon.

The Lowdown: Semenyo profiled

The 22-year-old is primarily a centre-forward who can also play on the wing. A product of the Robins’ academy, Semenyo is now a full Ghana international and has scored 22 goals during his career.

Bristol City manager Nigel Pearson has said that Semenyo’s ‘power and pace’ make him a ‘nightmare to play against’, and it looks as if the striker is on Palace’s radar.

The Latest: Palace linked with Semenyo

Nixon shared a story for The Sun, claiming that Freedman watched Semenyo in action on Saturday in Bristol City’s 3-2 win at Blackburn, during which the 22-year-old came off the bench.

The journalist claims that Palace are waiting for the forward to reach full fitness after missing the first five Championship fixtures of the campaign before making a move for him.

The Verdict: One to watch

It looks as if the Eagles are ready to move for the Ghana forward, should he remain fully fit, so a January move could be one to keep an eye on.

Semenyo enjoyed a fine campaign in the Championship in 2021/22, contributing to 20 goals in 31 games. He actually registered more assists than goals last season, so he could be a perfect addition for Palace in the New Year.

Patrick Vieira has a number of exciting attackers on the books already at Selhurst Park, but after losing the experienced Christian Benteke in the summer, a new centre-forward could be of use come January.
