Dalglish & Pardew Both Set Their Sights On A £10M PLus Total Gem Of A Player

Simon Kjaer is a name that has been banded around various transfer rumour sites for 18months.  When he finally made a move last Summer we thought it might keep him out of the transfer gossip column for a few years, that now appears to not be the case.

According to talksport and Italian website tuttomercatoweb Liverpool and Newcastle look to be preparing summer bids for the player in deals worth around £10million.

The Danish man began his career playing for FC Midtjylland in his native country, he was only there for one season before he moved to Italy and signed for Palermo where he would spend two seasons establishing himself as one of the most sought after young defenders in Europe.

During his 2 seasons in Italy he played 62 games in Serie A and ended the second season there as part of the Danish defence in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.  Before and during the tournament there were various different stories linking Kjaer to numerous different clubs, including Manchester City and Chelsea in the Premier League, however he finally switched to the Bundesliga team Wolfsburg for around £12million.

The man that took him to the club Steve McClaren has since been sacked and it now appears that he could be moving as well and this time the destination could be England.

Liverpool and Newcastle are looking to bring in the young Dane, and he would be of great benefit to either side.  He would certainly be an improvement on the centre backs that Newcastle have on their books currently and he could form a good partnership with Argentinean Fabricio Coloccini, he would be guaranteed first team football and it would be a good move for both player and club.  Liverpool as the other option would also be a good fit, they have a wealth of centrebacks but none of them have really stepped up and look like world beaters so again Kjaer could be an excellent addition.

If the player can live upto expectation there is no doubt that he would be a fantastic central defender and I believe that he has all the attributes necessary to be a top defender at Premiership level.

Newcastle would be a good place for him to learn his trade in the English top flight, the player however has stated that he has always been a Liverpool fan and the opportunity to play with his fellow countryman Daniel Agger could be a dream combination for both Liverpool and Kjaer.  Which ever club ends up signing the player they will have snared a fine prospect and someone I believe will only go from strength to strength.

I'm Joe and I write for the Transfer Tavern, I am a massive Manchester City fan, therefore 'bitter' to many of you out there! I was there in the dark days of Lincoln and Walsall away and loving this brief day in the sun before the inevitable City implosion in 2016. Football is pretty much on my mind the whole time so what better place for me to vent my amazingly non-biased views than on here, get involved!
