The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern would be forgiven for forgetting English striker Danny Ings.
The former Burnley forward’s development has hampered significantly by the injury problems and consequently, he’s been unable to make a real impact since moving to Merseyside in 2015. The 25-year-old has made just twelve appearances for the Reds and has scored three times. And – despite reaching full-fitness – it’s hard to envisage Ings receiving much first-team action with the glittering array of attacking stars at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal that includes Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and more.
He has been afforded time with the club’s U23s, however, and featured in the youngster’s 7-0 demolition of Bristol City in the Premier League Cup on Sunday. Not only did he play, but he inspired the team to victory with a scintillating display that yielded four goals and a further two assists. His task of securing regular first-team football at Anfield remains onerous, although if he can replicate that level of performance consistently he may give Klopp a selection headache.
With that in mind, here’s how the Reds fans reacted online…
Well done danny ings he was doing well in the first team before the injurys so he diserves his chance

Well done. If he gets a call up to the first team it will be for the bench only.
