The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to the news via their club’s official Twitter account that they’ve come to an agreement with Borussia Monchengladbach for the permanent transfer of Keanan Bennetts. The 19-year-old has made 32 appearances for Spurs youth sides this season, scoring nine goals and registering eight assists in that time.
We have reached an agreement with German side @borussia for the transfer of @kbennetts_11.

Tottenham Hotspur have a great reputation for developing youth players. Harry Kane, Danny Rose, Harry Winks, Ryan Mason and Nabil Bentaleb have all come through the club’s academy and broken into top-flight football. Whilst Bennetts would have most likely gone on to make a career for himself in North London, a move to the Bundesliga isn’t the worst option on the table.
In the last few years, a number of young English players have made the switch from England to Germany in the pursuit of first-team opportunities. The likes of Jadon Sancho, Reece Oxford and Ademola Lookman have all been in Germany this season and now Bennetts is to join them as he takes his first step into senior football. The left-sided player who can be deployed at both left-back and left-wing has an incredible left-foot and his searing pace makes him a valuable asset in any side.
