Tottenham Hotspur: Dharmesh Sheth refuses to rule out new striker signing after Bale and Reguilon swoop

Share

Speaking on The Transfer Show, via Daily Express, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has refused to rule out the possibility of Tottenham signing a new striker despite recently completing expensive deals to bring Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon to the club.

Spurs are apparently still on the lookout for a new forward given their dependence on star striker Harry Kane, and the fruitful acquisitions of Bale and Reguilon have reportedly not changed the club’s unwavering stance.

Sheth, speaking on Sky Sports via Daily Express, confirmed that the hunt has ‘not been ruled out at all‘, but Tottenham may need to offload certain surplus-to-requirements players in order to make any potential move happen.

The Athletic journalist David Ornstein claimed that Spurs could sell up to five squad members to fund any potential moves and balance the books after signing Bale and Reguilon.

Danny Rose, Juan Foyth, Paulo Gazzaniga, Serge Aurier and Ryan Sessegnon appear to be the most likely to make way according to Ornstein, with Tottenham’s desire to make some money back being no surprise given the expense of a sensational double swoop.

Bale looks set to cost Tottenham a whopping £20m in both wages and loan fees, while the permanent signing of Reguilon will set Spurs back an initial £27.5m.

Indeed, given a recent report claiming that Spurs had to borrow £175m through the Bank of England to offset financial revenue losses, it appears to be a necessity for the Lilywhites to sell before they can buy.

However, after Sheth’s update, there is reason for Tottenham fans to get excited as business doesn’t look to be concluded just yet.

Spurs fans, is a new striker still necessary after signing Bale and Reguilon? Have your say in the comments down below…
