Celtic are steamrolling their way towards to Scottish Premier League crown and under Brendan Rodgers, things are looking very good for the Bhoys between now and the end of the campaign.

Barring their disappointing and early exit from the Champions League group stages this season, the Bhoys have dominated domestically and even the reintroduction of Rangers back into the top flight in Scottish football hasn’t stopped their charge to the league title.

They’ve done it with ease and with a number of other cups still there for the taking, former Liverpool man Rodgers will want to pick up as much silverware as possible between now and the end of the season.

And with the Bhoys enjoying so much domestic success this campaign, we’ve done a whipround and asked some of their supporters here in the Tavern to tell us some things you might not know about one of Scotland’s biggest football clubs.

So with that in mind, here’s 2 things you probably never knew about Celtic…

They hold the record for a club match in Europe

Gone are the days of packed terraces that used to house ridiculous numbers of fans but back in the day, Celtic certainly knew how to fill stadiums, just as they do today.

And back in 1937 they faced Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup final at Hampden Park which was watched by a record crowd of 146,433 people, which still stands as a record for a club match in Europe.

Obviously with all-seated grounds we might not see this number being breached again anytime soon but that is a hefty amount of supporters!

The Bhoys could make history this season

This season, Celtic could make history.

No-one has ever won a top-flight league in Europe by more than 31 points but with Rangers and Aberdeen both struggling to keep the pace with the Bhoys, we could see a spot of history over the next few months.

Celtic only need to extend their lead by a few points over the next few months to set a new record and with both teams struggling to turn over win-after-win, you wouldn’t bet against seeing some European history in the very near future.
