The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been a fit of laughter today, ahead of their return to the Champions League this evening.
Indeed, the Blues in the bar are hugely excited about their game at home to Qarabag tonight and couldn’t be more optimistic about a win against the Azerbaijani outfit.
So, as if the collective mood wasn’t good enough amongst them, a message from club legend Didier Drogba involving bitter rivals Tottenham has gone down a storm. As quoted in the Daily Express, the Ivorian has told compatriot Serge Aurier that he’s joined the WRONG club.
The latter moved to Spurs on deadline day after leaving French giants Pars Saint-Germain after previously been touted as a potential Blues target. With Drogba have represented Les Elephants with Aurier for two years, he joked to Sky Sports (via the Express) about exactly what he told his former international team mate.
”He plays for the wrong team!”, exclaimed the 39-year-old.
“But I’m happy for him, very happy for his move.”
Landlord’s Verdict:
Aurier may come with his problems off the field, though could prove to be a miss for the Premier League champions.
His pace and power down the right flank would have been excellent cover and competition for Victor Moses, with little known about eventual signing, Davide Zappacosta.
Thoughts?
