The Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern have been trying to wrap their heads around a ludicrous rumour that’s surfaced in Presse Ocean. The story has linked ex-Leicester and Chelsea manager, Claudio Ranieri with a shock move to Tottenham in the summer as the Italian gaffer has reportedly fallen out with the Nantes club president.

Whilst Ranieri might have achieved the impossible with the Foxes in the 2015/16 season, the Spurs fans aren’t convinced that he would be a suitable fit at Tottenham. Mostly, the fans are shocked at the rumours as they don’t want to see their Argentine gaffer, Mauricio Pochettino going anywhere. The project which Poch has set in motion in North London has seen Spurs go from Europa League fodder to consistent a Champions League side.
In Pochettino’s last two years at the club, he’s ensured Champions League football twice and managed back-to-back FA Cup semi-finals. Whilst he’s yet to win silverware at the club, the fans aren’t convinced that Ranieri could come in and win trophies. The only way our local Lilywhites can make sense of the Ranieri rumours is if he is being lined up to come in as a director of football at the club, helping Pochettino to bring in transfer targets and do off the field work to enhance Spurs as a club as they prepare for their move into their new home.

Can only see Ranieri involved in some form of ‘Director Of Football’ role within the club if he did indeed join us, that’s the only way of this report making any sense whatsoever.

Director of Football perhaps. We certainly need somebody who can get transfers done quicker & more professionally.

A sure way to pass the blame onto someone else when things are not working out. The only reason why our transfer dealings get drawn out is DL. We won’t pay more for a player bcos we have a DoF.

I dilly don't think so.

Is this as first team manager or some kind of higher role?
