Manchester United fans drinking in the Football Transfer Tavern were left thrilled by news reported by the Daily Mail’s John Edwards that Robert Lewandowski is ready to move to Old Trafford in the summer.
He has been linked with a move to England for a number of years and Edwards makes claims that Sir Alex Ferguson has won the race to the signature of the Polish international. He believes that the clubs have agreed a fee of around £12 million for the 24-year-old who has told friends that he will leave the German champions at the end of the season.
Lewandowski, who is top of the German scoring charts this season with nine goals, is out of contract next summer and the German side could be forced to sell the striker this term to avoid losing him on a free-transfer.
If the Polish striker does end up completing a transfer to the Red Devils, they would surely boast the most formidable strikeforce in world football with Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and Javier Hernandez already among their attacking options.
