‘Dream signing’, ‘Please’ - Most Tottenham fans would love to see 24-year-old join ASAP

The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern have been allowing themselves to get a little bit excited as a story in AS claims that Spurs are one of five clubs to have made contact with Real Madrid over the signing of Mateo Kovacic.

This summer could see Juventus, Inter Milan, Roma and Manchester United all competing with the Lilywhites for the signature of Kovacic. Whilst those odds don’t look good for Spurs, the Croatian midfielder could be swayed by his teammates, Luka Modric and Gareth Bale, who both know what it’s like to turn out for Tottenham in the Premier League and will have nothing but good memories of their time in North London.

It’s reported that the 24-year-old has a release clause of 300 million euros and whilst that’s ridiculous in itself, the fact that Kovacic wants out of the Bernabeu would make the fee required much less. The Croatian midfielder is just one of a number of high profile transfer targets that Tottenham are chasing this summer as they could end up raiding a fair few of Europe’s big clubs in an attempt to strengthen their squad to the point that winning silverware is inevitable and for that to happen, Kovacic is a great first step.
