Tottenham’s upturn in form has seen them move above Chelsea in the Premier League into the much coveted Champions League spots. Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping to pick up the win today against nearly crowned champions Man City, in a bid to keep this recent run going.
Spurs scraped a win against Stoke City with the largely impressive Christian Eriksen on the score sheet, and if Pochettino wants to be back in among the big boys again next season our regulars know that he is a key part to achieving that.
Indeed, Spurs are on a great run of form recently and have not been beaten in the league since the last time these two teams met, way back in December. Kieran Trippier
The England right-back has been suffering from fatigue but a game and some minutes under his belt, as for any footballer – will do him the world of good! Following Kyle Walker’s departure to Man City, Trippier has been given the chance to shine in the role, and the former Burnley man has done just that.
As always at a club like Spurs, competition for places is going to be high, and Trippier will want to take any chance he can to secure the right-back spot for the remainder of the season at least.
This will give him a huge foot in towards next year and possibly the World Cup come summer.
Toby Alderweireld
Pochettino could go three at the back and use the outcasted Belgian as part of the team to give him one last chance to possibly revive his Spurs career. With many teams on high alert over Alderweireld’s current situation, it either could be a chance to impress his current boss or future bosses, given which way his mind is set at the moment.
A game against Man City would surely bring out the best in the defender and if anything put him right in the spotlight.
