Europeans line up swoop for Chelsea star

terry.jpgChelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are toasting a drink to Chelsea legend Frank Lampard after his two goals gave the side a 2-1 comeback victory at Aston Villa when news arrives from Mirror Football that Blues captain John Terry has emerged as a target for Turkish champions Galatasaray.

Reports suggest that they would be able to match the defender’s salary while offering the prospect of first team football and they are preparing an offer.

The 32-year-old’s current £160,000-a-week contract at Stamford Bridge runs out next summer and the club have made no attempt to agree an extension with the legendary Blues man becoming less of a first team choice due to a mixture of injuries, poor form and he is currently seen third or fourth choice by Rafael Benitez in central defence.

With Jose Mourinho set to arrive in SW6 for next season the future of the former England captain is sure to be on the agenda. The Portuguese manager may choose to extend Terry’s contract having worked so close with him in the past but the interest from Turkey offers another option to Terry.

Terry was stretchered off during today’s game and is now expected to miss Chelsea’s Europa League final against Benfica on Wednesday.

The Mirror also reports that Fulham striker Dimitar Berbatov is on the Turkish clubs hitlist with the 32-year-old seeking one last final payday.

Will Terry make the switch to Turkey or will he remain a Blue for life? Let us know your thoughts below.
