Exclusive: Roberts impressed with Spurs’ summer signing

Former Tottenham Hotspur hero Graham Roberts insists that Bryan Gil looks like an excellent signing for the club.

The winger has joined the club from Sevilla in the summer transfer window, in a deal that has cost Spurs £22.5m plus Erik Lamela, who has moved the other way.

Gil has impressed in the Europa Conference League, particularly the second leg against Pacos de Ferreira, in which his dribbling and quick feet caused the Portuguese side all sorts of issues. He provided an assist in the 3-0 win.

Gil has been joined at the club by both Cristian Romero and Pierluigi Gollini, who have arrived on loan from Atalanta.

The winger has won five caps for Spain’s U21 side and is seen as a potential star of the future, given that he is just 20 and made a total of 21 appearances for Sevilla’s first-team, scoring twice and laying on two assists.

Roberts was asked about the signing of the winger, and replied: “He’s a good asset and he looks good.”
