Some of the more cynical Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been worried about the recent form of star man Philippe Coutinho, having watched Luis Suarez depart Anfield DESPITE qualifying for the Champions League.
Though the Brazilian is just a single part of a devastating front three under Jurgen Klopp right now, there’s little doubt the former Inter Milan youngster is one of the best in the Premier League.
So, reports emanating out of Spain yesterday suggesting Real Madrid could move for the 24-year-old came as severely unwelcome ones for our Merseyside locals.
However, Sky Sports’ La Liga expert Guillem Balague has revealed he believes any deal to take the Samba star to Spain is unlikely in the near future.
Writing in his Q&A session, Balague believes that Coutinho would struggle for a place in the Blaugrana’s current setup, while Los Blancos would need him to have more ‘glamour’.
Whatever that means.
”He needs a bit more glamour for Real Madrid to have big, big interest”, said the Spaniard.
”For Barcelona, they need to decide what to do with Arda Turan, and then they have to decide whether a player like Coutinho fits in that team.”
”The problem with Coutinho as a No 10, he hasn’t got a place in a Barcelona 4-3-3.
”He has to play wide, or play deeper, but that isn’t his role, so it’s difficult to find a place for him.”
Will Coutinho end up at either Barcelona or Real Madrid? Let us know below…
