Rangers fans must be wondering how their season has turned from one full of hope to one that has turned into disappointment over the past couple of months. Admittedly, Steven Gerrard has done extremely well at the helm of the Ibrox outfit considering it his first managerial job and has certainly managed to bring some optimism back to the Light Blues in recent times.
However, this summer is likely to be big for those in Glasgow and one man appears to be constantly attracting unwanted interest from some of Europe’s ‘big’ clubs.
What’s the News?
According to CNN Turk, Fenerbahce remain interested in Alfredo Morelos, despite the Colombian signing a new deal with the Scottish Premiership side as recently as last week.
The 22-year-old, who is valued at £2.7million (Transfermarkt) has been in sensational form this season, having hit 29 goals across all competitions.
The Verdict:
First and foremost, Rangers must do all they can to keep Morelos at the club for as long as possible and initial thoughts surrounding his new contract will have surely made it look as though that he would be at Ibrox beyond the upcoming transfer window.
However, there will be some questions about whether the new deal was to just bump up the transfer fee that the Scottish Premiership outfit will demand for the Colombia international ace, although that could definitely work in their favour.
With Fenerbahce thought to be interested, and with the asking price likely to be bumped up, it would appear to be unlikely for the Turkish outfit to be able to afford to bring him to Istanbul. The alleged competition they could face for Morelos could also be something of a concern for them as well.
A number of big clubs are believed to be keen in the 22-year-old, with Sky Sports having claimed a move to either Borussia Dortmund or Leicester City could also be on the cards, which is likely to appeal to the South American more than a move to Fenerbahce.
