Arsenal fans have finally had something to cheer about in the Transfer Tavern this week as their side picked up key victories over Bournemouth and Cologne.

The Gunners supporters had endured a miserable few weeks following defeats against Stoke City and Arsenal, but Arsene Wenger’s men returned to winning ways courtesy of a 3-0 victory over struggling Bournemouth last weekend.

And the North London outfit took that confidence and optimism into their first Europa League clash against Cologne on Thursday night, with Wenger’s men, who failed to qualify for the Champions League this term for the first time since the Frenchman took over the club back in 1996, running out 3-1 winners at the Emirates Stadium.

And the Gunners fans lining up at the bar after their side’s return to Europe will no doubt be intrigued by a recent report in Don Balon, which indicates that Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is fond of the North London side.

The France international has scored a stunning 182 goals in 371 games for the European heavyweights since moving there back in 2009, and has in his time at the Bernabeu won two La Liga titles, as well as three Champions League crowns.

Yet recent reports suggest that Real’s reported interest in Juventus’ Paolo Dybala and Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann could see Benzema moved on, with Arsenal a possible destination given his own reported like for the club.

And were the Gunners to land the £54 million-rated striker (as per Transfermarkt), here is what their fearsome attack could look like…

CAM: Alexis Sanchez

The best-case scenario for Arsenal is that talisman Alexis Sanchez pens a new deal, and stays the club beyond the summer.

It’s highly unlikely to happen, but Gunners supporters can only hope as having the 28-year-old in their front three would, without doubt, make them a significantly stronger side.

The Chile international was outstanding for Wenger’s team last term with 24 goals and 11 assists in 38 Premier League appearances – if it wasn’t for him, they may not have even earned a Europa League place.

And although his future was subject to speculation right up until the August 31 deadline, Sanchez remains an Arsenal player, and the Emirates faithful will be hoping that he brings the same level of commitment this term as he did last time round.

ST: Alexandre Lacazette

Summer signing Alexandre Lacazette has made a decent enough start to his Arsenal career, bagging two goals in four Premier League games for the Gunners.

The France international has netted excellent goals in the wins over Leicester City and Bournemouth this term to suggest that he could be the striker that Arsenal have been crying out for, while he also leads from the front with a tenacity to win the ball back and press the opposition.

The 26-year-old is quick and strong as well, and with 100 goals in 203 league games for Lyon, he certainly knows where the back of the net is, and would certainly keep up his impressive ratio as part of this frontline.

ST: Karim Benzema

He doesn’t quite get the plaudits that Cristiano Ronaldo or Gareth Bale do, but there’s little doubt that Karim Benzema has played a big part in Real Madrid’s recent resurgence to back-to-back Champions League titles, as well as the La Liga crown back in May.

The France international has scored 182 goals in just 371 games for the European giants, but has also laid on 104 assists in that time to underline his ability as an all round forward.

Last season was his first since 2010 in which he didn’t surpass the 20-goal barrier, he was only one short in the end, and although he hasn’t quite got going yet this term, the 29-year-old remains one of the best centre-forwards in Europe.

Arsenal are reportedly eyeing up a move for Benzema given the Galacticos’ reported interest in Paolo Dybala and Antoine Griezmann, which is a deal that would surely be very welcome at the Emirates Stadium as the North London outfit seek to finally sustain a Premier League title challenge for the first time in a while.
