‘First Fekir now this’ – Liverpool fans are cursing their luck after more transfer heartache

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been discussing their number one position as Sky Sports News have claimed that the club are now unlikely to sign Alisson Becker from Roma this summer. The Brazilian shot-stopper who’s set to start for his country in the World Cup this summer has been scouted by a number of clubs but could be now be set to stay in Rome.

Whilst this news could seem like it’s come at an awful time for Liverpool considering that just days ago Jurgen Klopp’s move for Lyon’s Nabil Fekir fell through, however, it could come as a blessing and not a curse. The club has been touted to sign one of either Alisson or Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak, who is arguably the better of the two. Although recently, the club has entertained the idea of making a move for Nick Pope.

The fans will be hoping that the club can ditch the Pope rumours and make a bold move for Atletico’s shot-stopper, although with the huge price tag that would be attached to the Slovenian it will take a huge bid for the goalkeeper to be allowed to leave the Wanda Metropolitano after his four-year spell with the club. The Reds would love a season with Oblak at Anfield and it will be the only way for the fans to get over the fact they won’t be signing Alisson.

The Alisson news is a huge blow for the club, the fans would have been delighted to see the Brazilian play for Jurgen Klopp although now that’s unlikely the fans will have to make do with whoever the club look to bring in.
