Liverpool have bagged some stunning players over the last few years, with Jurgen Klopp being well and truly backed by the Anfield brass.
From Virgil van Dijk to Naby Keita, the talent that these acquisitions have is clear for all to see.
The same can be said for their latest target, Houssem Aouar. According to RMC Sport, the Reds are a fan of the midfielder, and they’re said to be monitoring him.
Whichever way you spin it, Aouar is a player that would fit into the Anfield squad, and if they were to sign him, Jurgen Klopp’s team would be better for it.
However, that doesn’t mean that he should be the priority for Liverpool. They’ve got far more pressing needs than the midfield, and one area that needs upgrading is the attack.
They don’t have many options beyond Roberto Firmino, despite Jurgen Klopp’s faith in Dominic Solanke and Rhian Brewster, and this is something that needs solving.
So, in January, Liverpool should look to improve this problem, and Borussia Monchengladbach man Alassane Plea, who is rated at £25.2m by Transfer Markt – would be a fantastic choice.
The Reds have plenty of midfielders; but they don’t have anyone quite like Plea.

It has been a stunning season for the 25-year-old attacker. Borrusia Monchengladbach have a squad filled with talent, but he’s undeniably one of the best. He’s bagged a brilliant 8 goals and 3 assists this term, marking him out as one of Europe’s more lethal attackers.
Quick, agile and possessing a brilliant shot, he’s a fantastic threat going forward.
What’s interesting about Plea is his versatility. This season, he’s been able to play out wide or through the middle in equal measure, and he’s looked just as good in both positions.
Given Liverpool’s reliance on Roberto Firmino, the reality is that he’d rarely get into the team ahead of him on a regular basis. So, he’d be able to spend a lot of his time out wide, where more opportunities will likely be available, and when required, he’d be able to step up and play as a number 9 relatively easily.
This would solve a few problems for Liverpool. It would add more depth on the wings, whilst also adding more depth through the middle – whilst it would also give them another player that has a knack for scoring goals.
In truth, Plea looks to be the perfect player for Liverpool – and he’d be much more useful than Aouar. The Reds have plenty of midfielders; but they don’t have anyone quite like Plea. He only joined his current team over the summer, but his start has been so good that Liverpool must take notice.
Thoughts?
