Forget Aubamayeng: Wenger needs to consider landing 1 of these 2 strikers to finally replace RVP

Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern would love to see a striker in a similar mould to former favourite Robin Van Persie grace the Emirates pitch once again.

With the Alexis Sanchez saga looking like it may be finally coming to an end, it seems that the Gunners are in the market for a striker, with links to Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang being reported.

Although, over the years, Sanchez and Mesut Ozil have improved the Gunners and brought them goals, they haven’t really ever replaced Robin Van Persie. The Dutchman was a focal point of the attack who scored goals on a regular basis and linked the play, much like his predecessor the legendary Theirry Henry.

Our punters in the back room think, that if Arsene Wenger can bring a player similar to the Dutchman, the Gunners once again could be challenging upwards of the fourth position.

With that in mind, our landlord thinks Wenger should be considering one of these two strikers…

Ciro Immobile

The Italian striker is in some form this season after bagging 20 goals in 19 appearances already, alongside seven assists for his team, Lazio. Ciro Immobile is hitting what many of our regulars believe is the peak age for a footballer, 27, and this season has shown possible potential.

He’s an out and out striker and would keep the play stretched but has a dribbling skill in his locker to confuse defences to carve out opportunities. A move to the Premier League would be an entertaining prospect and he could slot into the Gunners play seamlessly.

Nabil Fekir

Nabil Fekir is having the season of his life for Lyon, helping himself to 16 goals in 19 games so far. The Algerian is a quality forward but has the ability to play behind the striker or to the right of a front three, in a similar mould to international teammate, Riyad Mahrez.

Having watched much of Ligue 1 this season, our chief barman thinks that Fekir would settle well into Premier League life and with his style of play, he would be a sensation at the Emirates, much to the delight of the Gunners faithful.
