Forget Liverpool: Why £40.5m future superstar needs to push for a potential Man United move

Our Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping to beat their biggest rivals to the signing of the young American winger.

After the capture of Alexis Sanchez in the winter window, Jose Mourinho will surely be on the lookout for more reinforcements in the summer, with his usual four targets to bring in, in a bid to bridge the gap in the league. With the reports breaking in the bar that one of the targets could be the American winger, who is currently setting the Bundesliga alight with Borussia Dortmund; Christian Pulisic.

Pulisic (rated at a whopping £40.5m by Transfermarkt) has many big clubs chasing after his signature, reportedly including former Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp. Many of our regulars believe that the American could be on his way to the Premier League but are still unsure as to which club he would choose, making for an exciting transfer battle no doubt.

With that in mind, our landlord takes a look at why Pulisic should opt for a move to Old Trafford over Liverpool…

The American Market

Signing Pulisic would be a marketing dream for the United board, with the winger being the main poster boy across the pond. The Red Devils would probably shell out a little more for the return of upping their game in the USA and, combined, the two parties could become a money-making machine.

Our punters in the pub believe that alongside the obvious pull of the levelling up their reach, Pulisic is a very good, young player that could handle the pressure of being in the spotlight.

Balance brought to the team

The winger can play across the midfield in any position, but his preferred position is on the right wing. He’s scored three goals and assisted twice this season so far in that position, and he would bring a balance to the team that seems to be missing in Mourinho’s team.

United have a range of talent on the left-hand side but no real out and out winger on the right. Our punters think that this could be the missing piece in the jigsaw for United.
