Forget Naby Keita, Liverpool should sign 1 of these 2 players instead

The thought of a Liverpool manager finally identifying the obvious weaknesses within the squad is a relief and Reds supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern are finally seeing that come into fruition.

The club has already signed Mo Salah and Dominic Solanke and there’s expected to be even more signings with Naby Keita linked by the likes of The Guardian.

Keita, a 22 year-old box-to-box midfielder, has been suggested as the ideal man to come into the Reds’ side and strengthen them but our landlord reckons there could be better options out there.

Fans by-the-bar have realised one of the few flaws in this latest target is his lack of pivotal top-flight experience and if the Reds want to challenge for as much silverware as possible in the coming years then that is what they need.

So with that in mind, Jurgen Klopp should sign one of these TWO players and forget about pursuing Guinea international Naby Keita….

Gonzalo Castro

Liverpool have to be smart about their transfer business this summer window and be narrowly careful about who is added to their ranks, which is why our landlord suggests Gonzalo Castro should be made a target.

Currently plying his trade for Germany’s giants Borussia Dortmund, the 30 year-old was a prominent figure in the Bundesliga last season and has racked up two trophies during his career; the country’s equivalent of the FA Cup and European Championship under-21 medal winner.

Castro’s experience is superior to Naby Keita, according to our Reds-mad punters, and that is why he would become a better suited midfielder to the Premier League, as well as competing in the European competitions.

Daniel Amartey

Daniel Amartey is one of the most promising defensive midfielders in the top-flight and was a key player in Leicester City’s 2016/17 campaign, however, his contribution was massively underrated due to their poor performances.

Having joined the Foxes in January 2016, the 22-year-old earned himself a Premier League winners’ medal after the club’s astonishing triumph in the division.

The Football Transfer Tavern think it is definitely time for the Ghana international to make the step up and sign for Jurgen Klopp’s prospective Liverpool squad ahead of the new season.

Liverpool fans, which of these two would you prefer over Naby Keita? Does your midfield even need strengthening? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
