Forget Newcastle’s Mike Ashley, here’s new investment in Scottish football

West Bromwich Albion v Newcastle United - Barclays Premier LeagueNewcastle United chairman Mike Ashley is not the only man looking to invest more in Scottish football, with Fruity King looking to tie up a new sponsorship deal with The Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) according to reports.

Fruity King is understood to be in advanced talks with the SPFL around a possible title sponsorship deal as they look to increase their brand awareness north of the border in a well-recognised league across Europe.

The naming rights to the four leagues in Scotland with all the associated rights are of most interest to Fruity King and are central to any investment.

Commercial Director of Fruity King stated; “Due to media and public interest, I can confirm we’re in talks with Mr Keith Campbell – Head of Partnerships at the Scottish Professional Football League for the title sponsorship of the four Scottish leagues.”

“Although no deal has yet to be agreed, talks have been very productive and are ongoing. Fruity King is keen to establish itself within British football and is working tirelessly to achieve our goals. It is an opportunity to position our brand as the focal point of the national game, and the most prestigious prize in Scotland.”

However, they “remain in discussions with a number of different bodies around football sponsorship opportunities” with a deal yet to be thrashed out.

I have been a Newcastle Fan for a number of years now. Favourite player has to be the Toon legend that is Alan Shearer. Hoping that Newcastle bounce straight back into the Premiership even though i am quite enjoying them winning most weeks for a change. Best football memory is England 4-1 Netherlands at Euro '96.
