Our Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern are not fully expecting Antonio Conte to be at the club much longer, after recent rumours of Roman Abramovich’s plans to majorly overhaul the club this summer. The long and much-needed revamp could start at the top with Conte being replaced by Maurizio Sarri, the Napoli boss is currently challenging Juventus dominance in Serie A and playing some very attractive football which will excite the Stamford Bridge faithful.

For the majority of the season, the grey cloud of being sacked has hung over Conte’s head like a lead weight. Indeed, after defeat on the opening day of the season to Burnley and two terrible transfer windows, the Italian seems frustrated with life at SW6.

Yet again the rumours have failed to stop flying around the bar among our regulars, with many claiming he will be looking to leave and possibly re-take the Italy job with it still being vacant at present. The Italian has won three Premier League games so far this year which has seen his side slide out of the top-four, alongside being knocked out of the League Cup and Champions League – things in 2018 are not going well for Conte

Despite the Sarri rumours, our landlord thinks now is the time to start looking around at other managers to take the hot seat at Stamford Bridge next season, and Abramovich should be looking at these TWO in particular…

Luis Enrique

The former Barcelona man is looking for his next job within football, while he takes the now standard post-Barca sabbatical and the Spanish coach certainly impressed by doing an outstanding job at the Nou Camp, after a poor start to life with the Catalan giants.

He won the double and a treble in his time in La Liga over the two seasons in charge, amid setting all types of records. His style of play would suit Chelsea down to the ground and our punters in the tap room would welcome him to Stamford Bridge with open arms, should he make the move of course.

Max Allegri

The Juventus coach replaced Conte at the Old Lady when he moved on to take the Italian job, before taking over at Chelsea. Since then, Allegri has won back-to-back Serie A titles and he looks on course to make it a hat-trick, to match Conte’s amazing achievement between 2011-2014.

His managerial brilliance was on display at the Bernabeu in the second leg against Real Madrid and Wembley recently as he masterfully crafted a comeback for his team against the Blues rivals Tottenham, which will please the fans already. Allegri could be a decent option to follow in Conte footsteps again this summer, and the Juve coach would bring with him that winning mindset that all Chelsea bosses need.
