Our Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are expecting some big incomings in the summer months as the team look to push on from this season.

Jurgen Klopp should be aiming to improve on the squad he already has, and alongside defensive areas to strengthen the German would do well to add back up attackers to bring some depth to the team.

The Reds have been linked with former player Suso who is currently playing for AC Milan in Serie A. Indeed, by what our barman has been saying, he’s having a tremendous season so far, with the Spaniard grabbing eight goals and four assists this season and is one of AC Milan’s constant high performers.

He can play on the right or down the middle of a front three, however, our regulars remember his dismal time at Liverpool, which saw him feature in just a handful of games throughout the 2012/13 season.

With that in mind, our landlord takes a look at TWO other options for Klopp in the summer, to focus his attention on…

Florian Thauvin

The 25-year-old Frenchman is having a fantastic season in Ligue 1 with Marseille, believe it or not. Following a very brief spell at Newcastle United a couple of seasons back, Thauvin returned to his homeland and has consistently improved since, proving to be the thrillingly incisive forward he looked as a youngster.

Thauvin can play across the front line if needed but his prolific position is on the right, where he has scored 16 goals and assisted 10 in his 28 starts so far this season. With previous Premier League experience added to his arsenal, the winger may be a smart move in the summer.

Manuel Lanzini

The West Ham man has shone this season when he’s had the chance too, having been in and out the team due to injury. The Argentine is much-loved at the Hammers, but for him to move on with his career, a step up in level may be the stage the 25-year-old needs to take himself to the next level.

Assisting is his game but he can grab a goal or two when presented with the chance, as we’ve seen on the pub big screen this season.
