We’re fast approaching the January transfer window and the question that will likely be on a lot of Tottenham fans’ mind is whether or not the club will be prepared to spend.
Spurs’ summer was restricted somewhat by the construction of their new stadium, which has continued to sap resources and time since it’s conception. Now, after months of delays, Levy finally has his new home.
Indeed, Mauricio Pochettino will be keen on reinforcing his first-team lineup come the New Year, but will he have the funds available?
Bleacher Report last week took a look at all the possible transfers and plausible Tottenham rumours and found that Roma’s Cengiz Under could well be on the way to north London, with a number of scouts reportedly watching him in Italy this season.
The Turkey international operates on the right-hand side of the pitch, typically as a winger or midfielder, and possesses some pace, a lot of agility, and excellent dribbling skills. In short, he’s an absolute nightmare for defenders.
However, we have to ask – do Tottenham actually need another winger?
Considering the talent in the current squad and buckets of potential in the academy, we think not.
That said, here are two players we believe could do an equally good job as Under if not better…
Samuel Sashoua
Sashoua looks like he will go all the way at Spurs.
He’s already appeared on the bench for Tottenham in their game against Leicester last year, and his development seems to have taken off since then.
The creative midfielders move to the Spanish third division for Athletico Baleares, where he’s scored 4 goals and assisted 2 in 11 games, is the next stage of his route into the first-team.

It’s a case of ‘will he or won’t he?’ for Marcus Edwards.
The winger, whose play style was once compared to that of Lionel Messi, has gone a bit quiet since the comparison with the world’s best (via Sky Sports).
He’s earned himself a reputation for his ability on the ball, like Messi, making use of his physique and low centre of gravity to squeeze the ball past players in the most impossible of ways.
Unfortunately for Edwards, his loan spell in the Netherlands for SBV Excelsior isn’t going particularly well so his breakthrough into the first-team may not happen anytime soon.
He’s definitely got the quality to go all the way – it’s just a case of whether he can prove it or not.
