Manchester City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are looking excited after the Daily Star linked them with a move for former Chelsea youngster Kevin De Bruyne after the Blues sold him to Wolfsburg last January.
Manuel Pellegrini is looking to sign another former Chelsea midfielder and this time it is the 23-year-old who has bags of potential and has impressed since his recent move to the Bundesliga.
If signed, he may not be a regular starter for the Citizens but that doesn’t mean he won’t be a good addition to the side and could be an influential sub.
Chelsea conducted great business for the Belgium international, having bought him for £7 million in 2012 before selling him for £18 million at the beginning of 2014 and it is believed Wolfsburg are looking to recoup £20 million for the former Genk man.
The attacking midfielder would add more strength to their midfield but it still wouldn’t fix their current problem up front with Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic all out with injury.
De Bruyne never really got going with Chelsea and only made three starts for the Blues but despite his experience in England, he is still rated very highly, particularly on the international stage.
Manchester City fans. Do you think a move for De Bruyne would be a clever move from Manuel Pellegrini or is it not worth the risk when you think of his time at Chelsea? Let us know your thoughts below.
