They may always be loyal to different divides on Merseyside, one a true blue and one always a red, but for some time now punters in this Transfer Tavern have been likening young Ross Barkley to Liverpool’s legendary ex-captain Steven Gerrard.
Barkley has been stuttering slightly in his early Premier League career, but glimpses have been seen already that will remind Everton, Liverpool and fans of Football as a whole of a young Steven Gerrard. Darting runs from midfield, long range efforts on goal and a remarkable work ethic to name a few key traits.
However, today former team-mate of Steven Gerrard in an England shirt and current member of the Everton squad that includes Ross Barkley, Gareth Barry, has come out and made a huge claim that he thinks Barkley could be as good as Steven Gerrard AND Frank Lampard, if he can improve his consistency. These reports from the Guardian have got a lot of fans talking in here!
Our resident Everton fans feel Barkley is one hell of a player, and feel he has all the credentials to become a regular starter for England in every game they play!
