The resident Hammers in the Transfer Tavern were delighted by their side’s ability to once again claim positive result against quality opposition last night.
Chants of ‘I’m forever blowing bubbles’ were ringing out in the tavern following the conclusion of West Ham’s London derby against Tottenham Hotspur last night. Despite being second best for the majority of proceedings, The Irons left Wembley with a 1-1 draw and another point towards safety to show for their efforts.
With less than 20 minutes to play, David Moyes’ side looked set to pull off a shock victory after Pedro Obiang had unleashed a thunderbolt from all of 30-yards out to give West Ham the lead in the 70th minute.
However, Son Heung-Min took inspiration from Obiang and unleashed a wonder strike of his own to grab Tottenham an equaliser in the 84th minute.
Both strikes will be strong contenders for goal of the month, and Obiang’s could well be in with a shout of goal of the season come May.
In the aftermath of proceedings, the West Ham fans were hailing the overall performance of their side, as well paying tribute to plenty of individual displays.
One player who particularly caught the eye of The Hammers contingent on Twitter was 18-year-old centre-back Declan Rice, who played as part of a back-five yesterday evening.
And it’s fair to say the supporters have been waxing lyrical about his impact on proceedings.
Rice now has 8 first-team starts under his belt this season, and the youngster has slowly begun to make a name for himself due to his incredibly assured performances at such a young age.
