The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been urging their club to get out the chequebook and make a move to sign Morocco and Ajax star Hakim Ziyech. The creative midfielder played 85 minutes as the African side held Spain to a 2-2 draw last night, bowing out of the World Cup with their heads held high.
After watching Ziyech for three group games though, our local Kopites propping the bar up are convinced that the Ajax man would be the next thing to Nabil Fekir if Jurgen Klopp can’t get the deal for the Frenchman over the line. This season in the Eredivisie has been a superb one for Ziyech. The 15-cap international scored nine goals and registered an incredible 17 assists as Ajax finished second, four points behind champions PSV.
This summer could prove to be a pivotal one for Ziyech as the Moroccan star has a big decision to make if the Reds come calling. It seems like Fekir is the first choice for the Anfield club but if Lyon’s president, Jean-Michael Aulus continues to be a tough negotiator then the club could turn their attention to the Ajax man. The two targets are the same age but Ziyech would command a much lower fee than Fekir would and it could be a smart move for Liverpool to sign him up instead of the more costly Frenchman.

@SamCarroll0 If there is even a slender chance for signing Fekir, Liverpool should go for it. If not then Ziyech is good alternative, he definitely will cost lesser than Fekir. #LFC

Whilst Fekir is the better player, the Reds in the Tavern would be happy with Ziyech as his raw creative abilities would be useful at Anfield and Klopp could mould him into the player the club need.
